13 May 2007
I've taken all of the bootlegs and remixes offline temporarily while I give them a spring clean.
In addition, Radio Fetdog will be taking a short hiatus while I concentrate on a couple of other projects, but will return soon.
In the meantime, if you're after anything in particular of mine, just mail me and I'll happily oblige....

3 April 2007

This ain't no April Fool, this is April's Radio Fettdog. Enjoy....

2 March 2007

Spring is in the air (allegedly), amd so is March's Radio Fettdog. Enjoy....

14 February 2007

Just in time to either accompany your Valentine's shenanigans or to take your mind off the whole sordid commercialism of it - your choice! Either way, enjoy February's Radio Fettdog.

15 January 2007

New year, new Radio Fettdog, January 2007 edition. As ever, the usual eclectic mix of the cream of my record collection.

Go get it, you know you want to.....

8 December 2006

Where did the last two months go? C'mon, own up, who took 'em? Ona bright note, Mutant at Fluid was a blast. I was deeply honoured to play alongside the likes of Phil'n'Dog, Instamatic, Juxtaposeur, The Who Boys and the incomparable Pilchard maniacs. Great night.

Back to business, though - Radio Fettdog's anniversary slipped by with not so much as a mention here, but head over to the Radio Fettdog page where you can pick it up along with the brand spanking new Radio Fettdog for December, the usual eclectic mix of whatever felt right when I was putting it together!

Best wishes to all for the festive season, and a big thanks to those of you out there (you know who you are) who continue to say nice things! ;-)

Oh, and I may have one last mashup to slip out before the new year......keep 'em peeled :)

4 October 2006

For the third year running I've been involved in the Monster Mash-up project, but this year we've gone (literally) hell for leather to produce something very special, and I do believe we've pulled it off!

Check out the site (click on the pic) to find a ton of mashups by some of the finest bootleggers around, as well as a creepy podcast complete with spooky stories narrated by myself and Mr Fab, and a whole host of other scary goodies!

To top it all off we've got a Halloween launch party for the CD at Fluid in London on Saturday 28th October which should be a blast. If half as much effort and love goes into this party as has gone into the CD then it will be the ultimate Halloween bash!

After you've downloaded your new Bride, check out September's Radio Fettdog, which I released on GYBO a few weeks ago but haven't announced here (*slaps forehead*)/

Enjoy!.....Mwaaahhaahhaaahhaahaaaaaa

15 September 2006

I got a copy of the new Scissor Sisters album today and it's great! One track, The Other Side, stuck out as a bloody great song, and also reminded me of Duran's Save A Prayer, so I thought it'd be rude not to mash them together!

So, I present Scissor Sisters - The Other Side (fettdog's Saved Prayer mix)

17 August 2006

I've been a bit slack on the old update, but Show 6 of Rock City Night is now online - click on the banner below and go get it!

Also, August's Radio Fettdog is good to go.

You know you want them, so go get 'em.....

4 July 2006

Just in time for Independence Day, here's July's Radio Fettdog, fresh, cool and very much online.

Go get it, you know you want to.....

23 June 2006

Show 5 of Rock City Night is now online - click on the banner below and go get it!

Ready to rock?......

3 June 2006

June's Radio Fettdog is online, as is the second Radio Fettdog special, entitled Red Wine and Dark Rooms. This is a very different tone to previous Radio Fettdog's and is for those darker moments in, so for a change of pace, go get it.

In fact, go get 'em both, and treat yourself!

14 May 2006

Radio Fettdog - Girls'n'Guitars is now online.

This special edition of Radio Fettdog is the first of an occasional series that will follow a theme, featuring this time two of my favourite things, girls and guitars. Perfect for the car. I should know, I've road tested it several times.

Also online is the third Rock City Nights show. Get it here....

7 May 2006

May's Radio Fettdog is now online, and if I say so myself it's a corker. Can't believe it's six months since I started doing this and even more surprised by the extremely positive response to it. :-)

In other news I've finally got my ass into gear and am now the proud owner of a MySpace page!

So, look me up, and swing by and say hi once in a while.....

30 April 2006

After several months of tinkering I'm finally happy with my redux of my bootleg version of Jeff Wayne's The War of the Worlds. Click on the link in the menu bar to be taken to the goodies, as well as a detailed explanation of my motives behind it, and why I've used particular tunes.

I've also been playing around and knocked out an interesting psuedo-bootleg using Billy Idol's Flesh For Fantasy remix and a load of US Public Service announcements. Get it by following the link below.....

Enjoy, and let me know what you think of TWOTW......

14 April 2006

April's Radio Fettdog is now available, and something new - an occasional hour long rock show mining the depths of the 80s rock scene, the scene I grew up in. Click on the banner below to go to the site.

Now, where's my air guitar......

5 March 2006

Just a quick update - Radio Fettdog is now available for March 2006. Head over to the RF page and grab it.

Go on, what are you waiting for? Oh, and enjoy.....

6 February 2006

An interesting month and a bit since the last update, what with Bastard being raided, and GYBO being served with a cease and desist! Bootlegs are therefore officially dead - yeah, right - long live bootlegs!

Phase one of a makeover for the site, as well. Boots and Remixes are now in one place, the MUSIC page, news is still right here (but then you know that, 'cause you're reading it), and my monthly hour long mix Radio Fettdog is located, well, guess! (Clue *points upwards*)

Links are far from exhaustive at the moment, so if you think you should be on that page, drop me a mail (*points left*), and my piece de resistance, War of the Worlds is also linked, yep, up there (*points upwards again*).

I'll be having a sort out of the tunes and remixes shortly, meaning that several will disappear forever so I can concentrate on new stuff and those that I think best represent me at this point in time, so grab stuff while you can!

I've also got a few original tunes in the pipeline, which all being well should be surfacing in the springtime.

Ok, end of update, so go grab the new Radio Fettdog for February and I'll see you back here very soon.....

24 December 2005

Cheekyboy, Lumpy, andrewherring and I were all played on Adam Court's Xmas Eve show today, so a big thanks to Ad for asking us to be involved. I'll post the full track listing in Fett Sets in the next couple of days, but for now you can get hold of mine by >>right clicking here<<

Merry Xmas one and all!.....

10 December 2005

A long, long time since the last update, but rest assured, I've been busy! Added to the bootlegs page are my three contribution to DJ BC's 2004 and 2005 Halloween projects, Monster Mash-Up and Son of Monster Mash-up. I created a Fright Fest track for each year, which were basically a whole host of horror movie samples set to some spooky music, but this year I also took Christopher Walken's superb reading of Poe's The Raven and set it to Nine Inch Nails's The Great Collapse (from the Further Down The Spiral remix album).

I've also added my contribution to BC's Xmas mash-up album, the cunningly titled Santastic. In the spirit of my Halloween Fests I created a Festive Fest using samples from the classic first Simpson's Xmas episode. Check out the whole album >> here <<< - lots of bootlegging luminaries involved on this one, GHP, Poj, Cheekboy and BC himself to name but four! All your Xmas mix needs right here in one place!

As the new year approaches I'm working on a major overhaul of the site, so keep your eyes (and ears) peeled for changes early in 2006 (yes, 2006 - hard to believe isn't it!)

Until then, have a great Xmas and I'll see you on the other side.....

14 September 2005

Quick update tonight - I've uploaded my Skank Like Me boot to the (surprise, surprise) bootleg page. A ska-tastic blend of Adina Howard's finest moment and nearly-rans Horny Toad. Who can resist a good skank? Not me.....

21 August 2005

Another overdue update, but at least I have a good reason this time! I've been over in the US on business, but found time to hang out with DJ BC and Lenlow - two of the nicest guys you could ever hope to meet. They made this English dog feel very welcome (and gave me beer and pizza too!). I also did at set at their fortnightly mashup night, Mash Ave, alongside a guy called Commodore Vic, who spun a great Enya/Prodigy boot by Apeboy that was easily the tune of the evening. (Nice to meet Adam Balm as well - another great guy.)

There's a new mashup I created to commemorate my appearance in Boston, a Tupac/O'Jays/Bulletboy thang called For The Love of Changes, so head over to the bootleg page and grab it. Now! (I'll still be here when you get back.)

Richie over at Culture Deluxe has been doing a Personal Stereo thing for the last couple of months whereby each week a guest 'legger presents 45 minutes of their favourite tunes, one from each year in a consecutive sequence, a bit like the feature Scott Mills does on his Radio 1 show, but with good tunes! Anyway, it's my turn this Friday, so head over there and grab my mix - I've covered 1979 to 1991 (with a sequel already in the works to bring it up to 2005), and should hopefully delight you with tunes both familiar and not so familiar, but all good!

That's it for now, although keep youy eyes and ears peeled at GYBO for a little something that the lovely Holestar and I have been cooking up.....

29 July 2005

I've finally finished my labour of love, my bootleg version of Jeff Wayne's The War of the Worlds.

Ever since hearing this at school when I was eight years old I've always thought "I'd love to do something like that", so when the Richard Burton acapella became available following the 2005 release of the Collectors Edition of Jeff Wayne's masterpiece, I couldn't resist!

It's been featured on Culture Deluxe (and a big thanks to Richie for that!) and has gotten some great feedback from those who have heard it (and from those, including Don, Col, cheekyboy, Tone396 and my LJ bud Lizzie who I inflicted early versions on)

Click on the picture above to go to the mini-site for the full story, and as ever, enjoy.....

19 July 2005

Two bits of news. Firstly I've signed up to play a set or two at Pilchard's alternative Bootleg Reading Shindig, details of which are available at Pilchard's site, here. While you're there, check out some of their mixes and boots - top quality stuff.

The second bit of news is that I've just finished fine-tuning a major project that I've been working on. All will be revealed in the next few days, but it's something that's been very close to my heart for the last 27 years or so......

Finally, got plenty of good feedback for my Superminted bootleg, which I'm particularly proud of, and which is available for download on the bootlegs page.

Keep 'em peeled for a special announcement in a few days regarding my project.....

21 June 2005

It's the longest day today, and it seems like the longest time since an update (get on with it - Ed.) so here's a pair of new bootlegs for you.

First is the tune that's gone down a storm on GYBO and is currently sitting pretty at the top of the Culture Deluxe Bootleg Chart! Three parts Tone Loc, two parts Blur and a dash of Coldplay, shake well, add some crushed ice and voila, I present Girls & Clock Things! Nice to get such a good response after my short hiatus from the GYBO boards, and a sort of validation that I must be doing something right!

The other boot is a mash-up of Amerie's 1 Thing and the Scissor Sisters' Laura, imaginatively titled 1 Thing, Laura.

Both are available for download on the Bootlegs page, so as ever, enjoy.....

8 May 2005
Well, a long time since an update here, but I've been busy and have a few new things for download.

First up are a couple of remixes - the first is a rocked-up mix of the Scissor Sisters' Filthy/Gorgeous, and the second my remix of Kylie's Giving You Up, which is a couple of months old now, but I realised that despite it getting great reviews and massive amounts of download action, I hadn't added it to the site! You can grab them both on the remixes page.

The big news is a new 20 minute mix that I've just finished, and which was used for the final edition of Adam Court's ReBooted section of his show last Friday. It's a shame to see the end of this, and huge props are due to Ad for playing so many bootlegs over the last few months. A personal thank you from me for being supportive of my work, Ad, and hope to see ReBooted resurrected at some point in the future.

As for the mix itself, it's called Fettdog Says Relax! and you'll find it on the fett sets page, along with a full tracklisting. I think it's my best yet (but then I would, wouldn't I?). Check it out.

Also on the remixes front, I've submitted both Khanada and a version of Faster Than Light to the DuranDuranRemixed project, which should be completed and unleashed on the world fairly soon.

Finally, I'm working on a special remix project, the results of which will be heard by the artist concerned personally, so no pressure! Will spill all in due course....

18 March 2005
Confirmed: my Kylie remix is on Adam Court's show tonight. I can't give Ad enough props for supporting not only my work, but that of all the bootleggers and remixers on GYBO. You're a star, matey!

Also big thanks to Arjan, who has written about the Kylie remix on his very professional and interesting blog, Arjanwrites.com. Well worth checking out (and not just for me!)

The Khanada remix is almost there, and I've been asked by the guy who runs the unofficial Dave Matthews Band site to create a mashup using Dave's new single, a request I'm happy to oblige - I'm always up for a challenge!

This weeks album recommendation is the Kaiser Chiefs' Employment - stick Blur and early Adam & The Ants in a blender and you'll get the picture. Not a classic album but still worth a listen.....

13 March 2005
I've been busy on the old remix front these last few weeks.

Head over to the remixes page and you'll find my remix of The Bravery's Public Service Announcement, one of the best tracks off their debut album, and given the fett rocked-up treatment.

I've also posted a remix for a new band called Big Cash Prizes who put a shout out on GYBO for remixes of some of their tracks. This one's Walk On, and again I've given it a bit of a rocked-up treatment, so turn this one up to 11!

I'm currently working on a remix for the forthcoming Duran Duran tribute albuym, organised by killallhippies. Rather that go for one of the album tracks, I've opted for one of the b-sides, Khanada which is a great tune and proving to be an interesting mix.....

Finally, I've got a remix just about ready to go by our favourite Antipodean pop pixie. Those of you in South Wales may get to hear it first this coming Friday, but come Saturday, it'll be let loose on GYBO and CDX.

That's all for now, except to say that the current single by Hurricane Party, called Roadstar is one of the most full-on rock tunes I've heard for a while and is on heavy rotation here at Fett Towers......

17 February 2005

Bit late, but Happy New year!

Things have been a bit quiet on the Fett music front for a couple of months due to my commitment to a literary project that is starting to really take shape (and yes, it is music related).

I haven't abandoned the music side of things, though, far from it. There are a couple of things bubbling at the moment, and I've completed a couple of remixes - one for the delightful Gene Serene, and the other for Boulevard X, an up and coming electroclash act.

Finally, for now at least, I've got an advance copy of The Bravery's album and it's awesome - these boys are gonna be big, mark my words......

28 December 2004
This'll probably be my final blog of the year, so to anyone who reads this, merry Xmas and here's hoping 2005 brings you all you desire!

Musically the year ended perfectly for me by having four (count 'em!) mixes played on Adam Court's Bridge FM show on Christmas Eve - I've said it before but hats off to Ad for having the balls to stand up for boots on his radio show! A lot of the GYBO regulars have had tunes featured on his show this year and hopefully this will continue into 2005.

I've been a bit quiet on the blog front recently because I'm in the process of redesigning the site, which should happen early in 2005, but I've got 2 or 3 new tunes and a mix to post when that happens, so stay tuned pop pickers.

Finally, a little nuimber I put together and released on GYBO has apparently attracted some attention beyond GYBO. I put Kylie's Slow pella over an old Gary Numan b-side called Photograph to produce a very different boot (for me, anyway). I wasn't going to post it, but as I've had a request for it, if you mosey on over to the bootlegs page you can get hold of it.

Well, that's it for me for 2004 - see you next year.....

9 December 2004
Well, Christmas is almost upon us, and I've just finished my Xmas mix for Adam Court's Christmas show on Bridge FM. He'll be playing four 15 (or so) minutes mixes from me, and I'll actually be able to listen because they stream the shows now!

In other news I've been writing for the music blog at Buttoned Down Disco. It's been a while since I flexed my journalisitc muscles and I've really pleased with the results. Check out the site for some great music articles from a variety of people including Dollyrocker, who runs the site.

Finally, very shocked today to hear that Dimebag Darrell of Damageplan (and formerly Pantera) was shot dead yesterday. The man was a great guitarist and apparently a decent guy as well, so condolences to his family and friends.....

9 November 2004
Where does the time go? Well, I've certainly been busy, both musically and personally.

On the personal front, we went to the Ant Lib Live 3 event to celebrate Adam Ant's 50th birthday. The man himself didn't show but there was a great set from Terry Lee Miall's band 'Magnificent Seven' and a brilliant electro-pastiche from Gary Le Strange.

Definite highlight of the evening was chatting with Terry and his mate Dave at the bar for an hour or so about the early days of punk, and generally reminiscing about the legends who've left us recently - Joe Strummer and John Peel particularly.

On the music front, we held a Halloween party at which DJ BC's Monster Mash project got an airing - twice - not least because I had a track on it (which I'll nail up on the site soon). I've also signed up to remix Depche Mode's Sweetest Perfection for a Violator tribute album to be released early in 2005 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of this awesome album.

I'm also working on a project with Jason Atomic, comprising his awesome artwork and some new remixes of artists like the Ju Ju Babies, Fist Fuck Deluxe and Gene Serene, which will be available as a book/CD-type package sometime in the new year.

Finally, great Bastard this month, with CCC and Miss Frenchie tearing up the Asylum. If you weren't there, you missed a treat.....

15 October 2004
Hmmmm - a long time since the last update, although I have been keeping fairly up to date with my livejournal (go on, guess what my user name is there!).

Several new things since last time, which all kicked off with my Don't Call Me Beastie bootleg, which was on the wireless tonight, thanks again to Adam Court and his fine, fine rebooted section of his show. He informs me that Bridge FM is now streaming live, so next time I'm on I'll actually be able to hear it!

Don't Call Me Beastie (Madison Avenue vs The Beastie Boys) is now available on the 'bootlegs' page, and new on the 'fett sets' is, at long last, DISASTERPIECE, my 30 minute mix! It's been a long time coming, and very nearly didn't get here at all thanks to a nasty virus that wiped out several of my ACID work files, but thanks to several working MP3 files on my personal jukebox, I managed to retrieve most of it, and recreated the rest. So, enjoy it, alright! ;)

Finally, as it's nearly Halloween, I've contributed to DJ BC's excellent Monster Mash project, which you can check out by clicking here.

As always, enjoy (and congrats to Miss Frenchie for landing a support slot with Fatboy Slim!).......

25 September 2004
I was on the wireless again last night! Many thanks to Adam Court for once again playing me in the rebooted section of his show. The mix played, "Up and Adam" was a ten minute excerpt from the upcoming 30 minute mix (which I've just had to piece back together from my work-in-progress MP3s after a major system crash and hard drive fuck-up thanks to a nasty virus), so I'm a happy Dog at the moment!.......

17 September 2004
Three new boots on the bootlegs page.

First up is Sonne Demons, a mashup of Macy Gray and Rammstein, then we have I Hope You Demons Die, a former Strangely Familiar exclusive track mixing the Bloodhound Gang with Macy Gray (again!), and finally, Up and Down in 1999 which was reviewed on Boot106 by IDC back in August.

I'm nearing completion on a 30 minute mix which is almost at the final road test stage, so that should be out in the next few weeks.........

13 September 2004
Two words. Madonna. Awesome.

Myself and Mrs Fett have just got back from the best part of a week in Paris, which was beautiful, and which we kicked off by seeing Madge at the Bercy stadium on Sunday night. I can quite happily say that the show was one of the finest I've evr seen, rivalled only by U2's Zoo TV Outside Broadcast tour in 1993.

I must admit I was worried that she'd be past it, and that based on previous reviews her cover of Imagine would be truly horrifying, but my fears turned out to be baseless. What we did get was a great show by an artist at the top of her game.

On a closer-to-home note, Bastard was another corker, with great sets from Cowboy and the lethal combination of Mark GHP and Tone Ultra 396, who tore the house up with their rock boots which even got this dog air-guitaring like it was 1986 all over again!

Today was back to reality, back to work, and back to working on my mix, as well as some work for Gene Serene and a top secret project with a certain Mr Christ. All will be revealed in good time.........

31 August 2004
Where is the year going? It doesn't seem like 5 minutes since myself and Mrs Fett were at Bastard earlier this month, and lo and behold the next one is this very Thursday! The incomparable Elektric Cowboy is playing what is sure to be a superb set, and headlining is the unholy alliance of two of the scenes biggest and most talented names. I'm talking Go Home Productions and Ultra396, who are teaming up as Strictly Rockers to deliver a set chock-full-o-classics new and old, but all with a distinctly rock flavour!

The date is Thursday, the venue is the Asylum (although those of us who like to get the party started early will be in the One Tun beforehand), and there's really no excuse for not turning up if you're in the London area and love bootlegs - this is your chance to see three of the current masters of the game.

Miss it at your peril!

In other news, Up and Down in 1999 was played on Adam Court's show last Friday, and I'm about 20 minutes into my follow up to Fifteen Minutes of Maim (available on the fett sets page).

See you at Bastard!........

20 August 2004
Nice to see one of the main players in the scene return last week - Frenchbloke instantly sorted the men from the boys (and girls, Miss Frenchie!) with his Back With A Big Fuck You mix. Over an hour of quality bootage, and well worth a place in any self-respecting music lover's collection. Boot106 is back too, and I had the, errr, honour of having my latest boot Up And Down In 1999 reviewed by IDC, who, to be fair, was fair in his comments. This ignited a HUGE thread on the GYBO boards due to IDC's frank views on the tunes, but at the end of the day, as IDC himself observed, it's just one man's opinion, and as the old adage goes "if you can't stand the heat....."

Another radio play for the 'Dog tonight on Adam Court's Bridge FM show as part of his Re-Booted section of the show. This one's a 10 minute preview of a full length mix I'm working on (which, Fett fans, is actually available in this 'exclusive' format on the secret site) and is, I think, some of the best stuff I've done yet. Time will tell what the world at large (and IDC) thinks.

Finally, my current favourite boot is Mixamatosis's Up Close And Sexual - a mash of NIN's Closer and the late, great Marvin Gaye's Sexual Healing. It shouldn't work, it really shouldn't, but it does - magnificiently. Grab it from the hosted page if you haven't heard it yet......

'Til next time.....

7 August 2004

Well, it's been busy times in the Fett camp this last week or so. Last Saturday Jo (Mrs Fett) and I went to see Silence Is Sexy at Electrowerkz (Slimelight), supporting Cruxshadows. As always they were utterly fantastic, and if there's another band around at the moment that have both the pedigree of songs that SIS have, and also the awesome theatre that is the chemistry onstage between Sebastian and Tara then I've yet to see them! Simply breathtaking to witness. They have one last appearance this year, at Infest, so if you're going there, make a point of catching their set - you won't be disappointed. The crowd at Electrowekz seemed to like it, and gave them a very enthusiastic reception.

The following night we ventured into the Old Street area of London to see Fist Fuck Deluxe play at the Electricity Showrooms (although sadly there wasn't a cooker in sight). Jo was supposed to be doing Johnny Deluxe's makeup, but after a tragic incident involving several illicit substances a few days before he didn't show, so the lovely Gene Serene joined Jason Atomic onstage for a great set.

Still on the gig front, we've managed to get tickets for not only the Scissor Sister's gig at Brixton on Halloween (for which we need to wear costumes - should be great fun!), but just this morning I bagged a couple of Franz Ferdinand tickets for one of their two Brixton shows a couple of days before the Scissor Sisters hit town (again! - I'm also seeing them at the Royal Albert Hall, standing tix *smug grin*)

On the music front, we finally made it to Bastard, and had a great time mingling with 'leggers new and old, and getting blown away by sets from Lionel Vinyl (really nice bloke!) and IDC.

Finally, just finishing off my In Electro Baby remix for Sebastian (SIS), and have a rather special boot that's almost done...... more on this next time.....

30 July 2004
I've been busy with work the last few weeks, so music has taken a backseat temporarily, although I have made a good start on the sequel to 15 Minutes Of Maim, which could spawn a couple of advance boots if I get my ass in gear anytime soon.

Another problem has been the invasion of my system by a virus, after I installed Windows MX. So, tomorrow is reformat and reinstall day! Not all bad news, though, as tomorrow night we're off to see Silence Is Sexy playing in London. This virus also wiped out my almost finished remix of In Electro Baby, though, but again, the good news is that I've restarted it and it's actually sounding much better the second time around!

Best news of the day is managing to get hold of Scissor Sisters tickets for their Halloween gig at Brixton Academy. This means that along with the Royal Albert Hall gig a fortnight before, I'll be seeing them twice in October! Can't wait.

Finally, album of the week, and contender for Album of the Year along with the Scissor Sisters and Franz Ferdinand albums, is Snow Patrol's Final Straw. You'll be hard pushed to find a better guitar based album than this one - simply essential listening! Check it out!

OK, reformat here I come. I will return.....

16 July 2004
Big update tonight, Fettfans (yeah, both of you!).

In the remixes section, the long awaited Gene Serene tracks! For your listening pleasure are the electric nightmare mixes of both Sex U Up and Wicked, and the ripcord mix of Freefall, which will be appearing in an edited form on Deep Disco Force's GYBO white labels later this year.

In the bootlegs section, a new boot that was played exclusively earlier tonight on Adam Court's show on Bridge FM, as part of his Re-Booted selection. Actually, huge props to Adam for having the balls to do something like this on a commercial station (and to his bosses for letting him do it). I present for your listening pleasure Tweet Runs With Scissors, and give a huge shout out to DjJayR for suggesting the title after hearing a rough mix of it.

Finally - saw both Fahreneit 9/11 and Spider-man 2 in the last week - both excellent movies, and both worth a viewing.

That's it for now, so until next time.............

14 July 2004
Hmmm, another fortnight nearly passes without a blog entry (maybe I should emply a blog ghostwriter....)

Went to the launch party of Gene Serene's new single last Thursday, and had a blast! We got there early as Mrs Fett was doing Gene's makeup, so I got the job of running all over Soho trying to find hairspray, which was fun! It was a great success though, Gene was awesome (read AWESOME!!), and we took some excellent pix (so I may have to introduce a pix page soon...).

Gene wowed the crowd, who included Elektric Cowboy, Daz Automatic and Pop Bastard from the 'leggers contingency, Jason Atomic and Johnny Deluxe from the incomparable Fist Fuck Deluxe (Jon came wrapped in bandages....), and Sebastian and Tara from Silence Is Sexy

Sadly, the JuJu Babies couldn't be there, as they're currently the house band at Manumission in Ibiza! If you're reading this (yeah, like anyone does), you were missed!

I promised some Gene Serene remixes - haven't uploaded them yet, but will do so in the next few days, together with a brand new boot.....

3 July 2004
I'd like to say that the lengthy interlude between last time and this time's entry is because I've been on holiday, but I can't - it's purely and simply because I've been a lazy bastard in the updating blogs area :)

However, there is stuff to report - Mrs Fett (Jo) just won the 4th Annual Mistress of the Year contest that Arrow In The Head runs (a horror movie site where I moderate one of the forums, but there was no nepotism before you ask!), so I'm really proud of her and wanted to tell the world!

I'm almost finished a remix of Silence Is Sexy's In Electro, Baby, and should be delivering this to Sebastian in the next week or so after a final polish.

I've also finished my previously mentioned 'under wraps' bootleg, which is now in the safe (?!) hands of Radio Quita over at Strangely Familiar as one of their next batches of exlusives for the site (due out anytime now).

Not much else to say, so I'll shut up, apart from to say that I finally saw Michael Moore's early documentary The Big One last night, and it's great. Not quite up to the standard of Bowling For Columbine, or his Awful Truth TV series (which I have on DVD and is well worth a look), but entertaining nevertheless. Very much looking forward to Fahrenheit 9/11 later this month now.

OK, that's it for another blog - play nice children, and I'll see you back here very soon for the release into the wild of a couple of my currently unreleased Gene Serene remixes.....

17 June 2004
It may have something to do with my liberation from my previous job and having a week off before my new one, but I'm on fire at the moment! Not only have I done a remix of Men Without Hats' Safety Dance, but I've also expanded the Justin Timerlake / Tears For Fears section of my Fifteen Minutes Of Maim mix into a five minute bootleg! Phew! You can get them from the remixes and bootlegs pages resepctively, along with the Strangely Familiar exclusive bootleg Barbarism Begins With Noise (see 22 May blog entry for more details).

As I write this, I've just completed yet another boot (under wraps at the moment but expect a release this weekend) - I can't remember when I've been so prolific.

As for current fave tunes, McSleazy scores twice (and the crowd goes wild!) with his Superchunk and the electonix remix of Don't Call Me Song 2. He also gets a credit for Lionel's FakeID remix of Discodance, which is up to the usual standards that we've grown to expect from the LV/FakeID/GloomyBear stable. Kudos, Ian!

Finally, for those of you who may have wandered here after hearing Fifteen Minutes of Main on Adam Court's show, welcome! Feel free to wander around as if it were your own home and download some, all or none of the tunes on offer here. (Should you want your very own copy, FMOM is available for download on the 'fett sets' page.)

OK, signing off for a couple of debauched days in Nottingham. Later.....

11 June 2004
Finished my current job today in the Big Smoke, and now have a week off to recouperate, relax and attempt to install a new giant-size hard drive into my PC! I've been making do with 16 Meg up to now, and believe me it forces you to be very tidy and trim the fat regularly, so I'm looking forward to having 160 large ones to play with from tomorrow!

On the music front, I got a mail from Adam Court of South Wales's Bridge FM. He apparently loves my Fifteen Minutes Of Maim mix and will be playing it on air next Friday (18th June). Chuffed? You betcha ass I am!

Tune of the week for me is Geoff Carpet's Happiness Is Such A Thrill. Pure genius from the Lionel Vinyl stable - any bootleg that uses music from Miami Vice is alright in my book, but this is just superb. It's out there, find it - NOW!

Later.........

8 June 2004
At last! I've finally finished my first proper bootleg mix - Fifteen Minutes of Maim - and have unveiled a new section of the site in its' honour!

Ladies, gentlemen, and, errrr, you there at the back, I proudly present, the new fett sets page! *drum roll, cymbal crash!*

There's an eclectic mix of my favourite tunes in here, but enough about it here - head on over to the page for a full list of ingredients, and as ever........ Enjoy

2 June 2004
Fettdog update. OK, what's going on in Fett's world (I don't hear you ask). Well, looks like Kaleidoscope might be going with a track off Silence Is Sexy's EP (probably In Electro, Baby) so my remix looks like it won't make the cover disc after all but that's life. Sebastian likes it though so don't be surprised if it doesn't turn up on their site before long (and on here too if you keep 'em peeled - a limited release may well be upcoming....)

Also, after being inspired by Lionel Vinyl's Superchunk (which if you haven't got it yet is still being hosted on the, err, hosted page of this site, so what are you waiting for!), my bootleg silence recently has been due to me putting together a booty mix which so far (18 mins and counting) I'm really proud of. I'm hoping to release it in the next week or two but it just keeps growing (ooer missus). I figure this'll be my one and only 'masterwork' so I'm draggin' it out as long as I can :-)

Finally, due to Mrs Fett having some root canal work tomorrow, will be at home doing the TLC thing rather than at Bastard, but if you're there, shake it - (C) Radio Quita - for me!

Later......

Question. What makes a remix a remix? (What sort of question is that I hear you ask, well OK, I'll elaborate.)

This is an issue that I've thought about many times before, and which I think first forced its' way into my consciousness around about the time Wycliffe Jean staring doing remixes which basically consisted of him saying "1 time, 2 times" after various verses. I've also moaned about it in public too (well, in pubs mainly after a few beers) but now through the miracle of blog you too can hear about it!

This issue raised its' head again today when I was looking for some loops from Mad World for a mix I'm doing (more on this in a future blog....). I managed to lift a couple of useful loops from the album version, then noticed that on the CD there was the Mad World (World Mix). Apart from the original mix name, I thought to myself "aha, there must be a few extended musical passages in here for me to plunder", so I fired it up and gave it a listen.........

Well, after playing a couple of times, the only discernable difference between this and the original mix seemed to be the addition of about 8 bars of percussion at the end, and maybe the odd extra beat of percussion here and there in the actual body of the song, but to the average man in the street, I'd defy them to spot the difference!

OK, what's my point I hear you cry as your eyelids droop reading this. Well here it is. I personally think a remix should be just that - mixing the original song up in a different way - doing something a bit different with it (see Nine Inch Nails' Fixed, Further Down The Spiral and Things Falling Apart remix collections for examples of what you can really do with a track). Some great examples of remixing on the GYBO board are Soundhog's Pass The Dutch, McSleazy's Milkshake, and Big Bad Baz's I Believe In A Thing Called Love remixes. Oh, and pretty much anything FakeID (aka Lionel Vinyl) churns out, like his current remnix of Duran's The Reflex which rocks like a motherf*cker.

Right, point made. Until next time........

22 May 2004
.....First of all a shout out to Radio Quita's Strangely Familiar site, which is currently hosting five exclusive bootlegs, by some stellar talent including Go Home Productions, Party Ben, Agent Lovelette and Dunproofin. Oh, and me - sitting here honoured to be included among such luminaries of the scene! My bootleg is a splicing of the infectiously funky Barbarism Begins At Home by The Smiths (a bassline that I once had great fun learning and playing live many years ago!) and Public Enemy's Bring The Noise, and came about from a section I put together in a mix I'm working on. I'm very pleased with it and even more pleased to be able to have it featured at Strangely Familiar.

I'm also quite excited by the news that my remix of Silence Is Sexy's Glamour Boy (which I pulled a verrry late night last night to finish) might be included on the cover disc of an upcoming issue of Kaleidoscope. Sebastian (the heart of SIS) mailed me to tell me that he'd been interviewed by the magazine and that they asked if he wanted to include a remix, so as I've been wroking on a couple for him, I was pleased to oblige. More news on this as (and if!) it happens.

I downloaded GHP's Annie Rush a few days ago (from his subscribers site - if you haven't signed up, you're missing out!) and it's rekindled my love affair with Rush, to the point that I rushed out (groan) and picked up their Rush In Rio DVD. All I can say is WOW! The best live performance I've seen captured on film since Iron Maiden's 1985 Live After Death set. Awesome stuff.

Finally, really loving Gloomy Bear's Kelly Wash The Cars booty - if this isn't one of those perfect summer tunes, then I don't know what is! Find it and download it now!

Outta here.....

17 May 2004
.....Out of curiosity (and, OK yeah, vanity) I just did a search in Google for "fettdog" and it came back with some surprising results! Not only does it appear that some people actually read this blog, but there are people out there who are really enjoying the stuff that I do. After chatting with Electric Cowboy at a recent pre-Bastard gathering in the One Tun, we agreed that a lot of the 'leggers on the board are too modest for their own good, so it's good to know that what we do is being appreciated somwhere, particularly abroad, as with Radio1.cz. Lots of talent from the board in these best of 2003 lists!

Some of us GYBO folk are mentioned in the blog at emptyfree too. This is a nice site with some interesting content, and well worth a few minutes (or more) of your time.

Anyway, what's new music-wise - well, I'm now hosting Lionel Vinyl's excellent, superb, fantastic (yeah, I like it, can you tell!) Superchunk. If you haven't got this, then get yourself to the 'hosted' page immediately and download it - you won't hear a better mix all year (and that includes the one I'm curently working on!)

Finally, good to see Radio Quita's Strangely Familiar site up and running at last. Quita's got a plan for world domination, and you know what, I think it might just work! I've just completed my first new bootleg in ages for his site as an exclusive - Barbarism Begins With Noise - so check out the site to pick this one up.

OK, enough for one day - later.....

9 May 2004
.....Two updates in three days! A new record, and speaking of new records (tenuous link, I know, but no-one's reading this anyway, are they?), I've added my chilled out mix of Fist Fuck Deluxe's Gun Shy to the remixes page. As ever, enjoy.....

7 May 2004
.....Where does the time go? Nearly a month since the last update, and while I've been working on a number of things, the only tune I've released is the Bowie mashup (available on the remixes page). It's a track from his new album cut up with loops and thangs from I'm Afraid Of Americans. It's very dark and brooding and very different to the normal Fettdog output, but I'm really pleased with it, so give it a go!

In other news I got down to the One Tun for the first time since before Xmas and had a good chat (and a few beers) with some of the GYBO regulars. Always a pleasure and something I really must do more often.

Finally, for now, the Silence Is Sexy remixes are in progress, and I'm just putting the final touches to a remix of Gene Serene's Freefall, an edit of which I've submitted for the upcoming GYBO white label albums. I'll be posting that here in the next week or so, so keep 'em peeled......

14 Apr 2004
.....Lots happening since the last update. The Silence Is Sexy remixes are a go-project once the CD with the sound files arrives! I'm also working on a entry for the mashup competition at David Bowie's site, which is being co-judged by none other than Mark GHP himself! (used fivers, OK?)

And........I'm working on a radical reworking of a Gene Serene track for inclusion on a white label album being arranged by GYBO's very own Deep Disco Force! Stay tuned for further details.

Phew! More updates soon......

26 Mar 2004
.....Following a request on GYBO, I've uploaded Osymyso's full length Intro-Inspection, a 12 minute boot of something like 100 intros that is like nothing you've ever heard! Absolute class. Not sure how long it'll be up (depends on demand and bandwidth) so grab it while you can!

To get this, go to the new 'hosted' page - see the menu bar above! Enjoy! ......

19 Mar 2004
.....Been very busy the last few days. I've remixed two tunes for Gene Serene, and I'm working on a third. Once the lovely Ms De Fraine OK's them I'll release them into the wild, but for now, you'll just have to be patient!

I've also done a remix of Depeche Mode's I Feel Loved, which you can download from the remixes page (surprise surprise!)......

11 Mar 2004
.....Went to the opening of Jason Atomic's exhibition at the A&D Gallery tonight. He's got some great stuff on show there, my favourite being "Gay Marriage" because it's got the Green Goblin in it! It's on for a few weeks, so check it out if you're in the neighbourhood (and if you're not, then get yourself into the neighbourhood!)

The Faery Defects night went pretty well, so hopefully this will turn into a regular thing, as Hitchin is sorely starved of decent music nights!

Finally, just finished a couple of remixes - Fist Fuck Deluxe's Gun Shy, and Depeche Mode's I Feel Loved (using a groovy little loop from BT's remix of Tori Amos's Talula from a few years ago!). I'll post them in a day or two......

6 Mar 2004
..... Finally finished (roadtest and all) my FettSet 3 mix - Hairspray Heaven. Being an old-school ex-spandex wearing rocker, late 80s/early 90s rock has a very special place in my heart, and so this FettSet was a labour of love, which seems to have gone done well since I released it a couple of days ago on GYBO. It seems I'm not the only one out there that likes the old air guitar!

I'll be adding a Mixes page in the very near future containing all three FettSets, so keep 'em peeled!

In other news, we're holding the first Faery Defects night here in Hitchin tomorrow night, with a view to it becoming a regular night. I'll let you know how it went.......

29 Feb 2004
..... Just finished the latest in the FettSet series - Fettset 3 : 30 Minutes Of Hairspray Heaven. Just need to roadtest it tomorrow and will then release it to GYBO later this week

..... In other news, I'm just waiting for some sound files from Sebastian of Silence Is Sexy, so I can get to work on a couple of remixes for them. I've already put together a rough remix of King And Queen using just the MP3 so it'll be great to get the actual pella to play with! Turns out the JuJus are remixing it too so it'll be interesting to see what we both come up with.

Later.............

23 Feb 2004
..... OK, so what's new in Fett's world? A slight overhaul for the site, and the introduction of a blog, of sorts.....

..... Went to see the Ju Ju Babies last Saturday (Valentine's Day) at the Metro Club on Oxford Street. JoJo was doing the makeup for Paul Ju and The Baron so we were there early and in time to catch another of the bands on the bill, Silence Is Sexy. I hadn't seen them before but was suitably blown away by them!

..... Sebastian and Tara perfectly complemented each other on stage - him the (dare I say it) new romantic dandy, projecting a commanding presence while playing a tiny keyboard (but with a huge sound!), and she all elegance and sophistication, not to mention a powerhouse of a voice. Check 'em out, they're going to be going places if there's any justice in the world, and check out their website www.silenceissexy.com for some very cool tunes.......
