I was 8 years old when Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of H.G.Wells's War of the Worlds was released. My first encounter with it was thanks to my teacher at my Junior School who happened to be a big fan of it. Over four lessons we were played each of the four sides of the vinyl and were asked to draw pictures and discuss what we were hearing. I distinctly remember being very freaked out by the The Red Weed tracks, and especially by the final epilogue set in modern times.

Fast forward 27 years and having been part of the London Bootlegging & Remixing community for a few years it seemed like the most natural thing in the world to do a bootleg version of this musical masterpiece when I found out that Richard Burton's original narration, including previously unheard material, was to be included on the Collectors Edition of the 2005 re-release. If you're reading this Jeff, I love your work and it will always be the definitive version, but I hope you appreciate my tribute to this piece of musical genius. This has been, for me, a real labour of love.

Update - April 2006 So, why the redux treatment? Well, in true George Lucas style, while I was happy with the original project, as I've listened to it again and again over the last year there are places where I thought 'I could have done something better there', so to celebrate the live War of the Worlds shows that took place this year, I decided to go back and revamp the project, and so now present the Special Edition, which I personally think is much better, and the definitive bootleg version of Jeff's masterpiece.
